Road reconstruction works in the East Bakony

Within the scope of the East Bakony project, also road reconstruction works are implemented at the area by the aid of HM VERGA Zrt. The completion of the 35 km long road-section means an escape route in case of fire and it facilitates the getting of fire brigade to the site.

Souslik resettlement in the Bakony area

Within the scope of the East Bakony area LIFE+ programme, 212 Sousliks were resettled during the first phase of the project. The resettlement of Souslik contributes to the survival of the species and is also important in terms of the protection and maintenance of natural values of the NATURA 2000 site.

The first as set procurements

Forestry mulcherThe consortium partners have commenced the procurement of assets of appropriate standard for the successful accomplishment of project tasks. Procurements were conducted by the consortium members individually, with a content required for the action plan of each organization and in accordance with procedure stipulated by effective legislation.

Setting up the project organization and starting the work

At the time of signing the consortium agreement, the managing body fulfilling the supervision of duties of the consortium was established on 30th January, 2009. Within a short time following this event, the first discussion aiming at executing the project has occurred.

Winning proposal

The European Commission declared the project titled ’Restoration and conservation of priority habitats and species in the Eastern Bakony area’ winning on 27th October 2008.

Under leadership of the Infrastructure Agency of the Ministry of Defence, members of the winning consortium had jointly sought for solutions in the interest of the restoration and conservation of priority habitats and species in the Eastern Bakony area.

Public hearing in Veszprém

‚ÄěNational Defence and Nature Conservation‚ÄĚ, this was the title of the public hearing held in Veszpr√©m. The consortium members reported on the main objectives of the project at the Municipal Culture Centre, i.e. reconditioning of degraded habitats and populations, preservation of natural values and biodiversity of the respective areas and especially harmonization of military activities and nature conservation actions in the best possible manner. They said the project would stop the degradation process of highly important habitats, e.g. the Pannonian Pubescent Oak woods, Sub-Pannonian steppes, and preserve protected species as the Saker Falcon and Imperial Eagle in the course of its five years period.
