Project Eastern Bakony has been implemented successfully

23.03.2015.

The project titled ’Restoration and conservation of priority habitats and species in the Eastern Bakony area’ was listed among the winning projects requesting funds from the LIFE+ Programme. The decision was made on 27th October 2008. Under leadership of the Infrastructure Agency of the Ministry of Defence the project consortium was established in January, 2009 with the participation of VERGA Co. (Forestry of Veszprém), Balaton Uplands National Park Directorate (BfNPI), Aquaprofit Co.

The implementation of nature conservation interventions started in 2009. The habitat reconstruction in active military areas in the Eastern Bakony area was carried out in 5 years. The awarded financial support of the LIFE+ programme was 2.2 million euros.

During the implementation period information about the project progress was provided through its website, media and several public information meetings. Flyers and brochures introducing the main objectives and activities of the project, as well as the habitats and species characterising the project area were distributed to the public.

The Final Report of the project was sent to the European Comission after the end of the implementation period. The document outlining the project activities and the achievements is also uploaded in the Documents menu of the project webpage together with the After-LIFE Conservation Plan, the After-LIFE Communication Plan and the layman’s report. The Natura 2000 site management plan is also available to download in Hungarian.

The consortium members will continue cooperation after the project end and news on this webpage and the Facebook page of the project will be frequently posted.
